Photographs from Paris-Provence tour--2008-10
(part 2: 10-04, Fragonard perfume factory, Monaco, and Rothchild garden)
2008-10-04: Fragonard perfume factory
This was the second time for me to visit this factory. The first time in 2000 during a one-week Mediterranean cruise.
Good views. Otherwise, perfume is not my forte.
I remember, they explained that it takes 3 tons of flowers to make 1 Kg of perfume. What I wanted to see then was their flower garden, or farm.
Monaco is also my second visit. Really scenic place! Only the rich lives here, it seems.
However, I always wondered what happens if I live here and look at these views daily? Won't I get bored? At least I shall get so used to it that they are no longer very attractive to me, I guess. Don't we have to live in "ordinary places" and then visit heavenly quarters, like Monaco, now and then to feel its beauty and grandeur?
The chapel where Grace Kelly became a Princess. Another fairy tale.
The Monaco Palace from the Square.
Yacht club in Monaco
I like sea and cruises, But boat or yacht is not for me. I get sea sick so easily.
There was another nude women statue looking like a relative of theirs in front of the Restaurant Chanteler of Hotel Negrosco. I have to look up who the sculptor of this kind is.
A classmate of mine, Professor TT Kuo just informed me that the artist is Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002). She was a sculptor, painter, film maker, and a model who made the cover of Life and Vogue magazines. Born in France, moved to America after the banker father went bankrupt during the great depression. Reviewing her story, Now I found that the fat woman sculpture in white in the center of the Versailles Room in the Hotel Negresco (see Part-1) is also her creation, artistic expression of the proverbial everywoman, named "Nanas".
Casino Royale-->007 James Bond!!. But gambling is not for me. Can not imagine the life of rich people, no work, coming here and pouring $$ into the Casino operator's pocket, hundreds of thousands per hour.
Ephrussi de Rothchild Villa at Saint-Jean-cap-Ferrat.
The place where the name Rothchild became a legend.
When you have money, buy art and antiques. Then donate to a foundation. These days, people tend to donate to charities, perhaps because we could see the poverty and miseries around the world vividly from TV.
The view of the Mediterranean from the Rothchild garden. The sceneries around the coast of Mediterranean are all magnificent. So is the weather.
